Howie Sann

Howie Sann began his career in 1965, first as a reporter on The Mercury in Pottstown, Pa., and then on the Philadelphia Bulletin, where he was also a rewrite man. By '67 he'd gone to Spain, following the bulls in a Hemingwayesque dream. Returning, he found work as an editor, put out a sports magazine, researched and edited books, wrote a newsletter, then a brochure. And another. He's still at it.

In 1988, after hearing a friend lament his mother's refusal to give him a $75,000 inheritance left by his father, he believed he could settle their dispute with some choice words. It was two paragraphs. After reading them, the mother called up her son. His friend got paid. Sann founded Victory Ink.
